Auckland Half Marathon 2024

This morning, I once again ran the Auckland Half Marathon — just under 2 hours.

I was a bit slower this year. I didn’t push myself as hard, and probably because of that I felt a lot better than usual during and after the run, so that was good. Of course I’m also getting older, and a little fatter — thank the Google cafe for the latter.

Another thing that slowed me down a bit was that I only arrived at the starting area about a minute before the race started and wasn’t able to get to the 2-hour-pace area. When the run started it took me about five minutes to get to the actual start line, and then I was surrounded by slightly slower runners than ideal.

I got to the start line later than expected because the queue for the ferries this morning was extremely long, something I haven’t encountered before, so I got a pretty late ferry. I guess I need to get up earlier next time!
